LEARNING PHARMACY - THE FATHER AND PIONEER OF INDIAN PHARMACEUTICAL EDUC...

In this video, we have introduced with you, THE FATHER OF INDIAN PHARMACEUTICAL EDUCATION-PROF. ML SCHROFF.
Most of the Indian pharmacist don't know about him. He is the real face behind the pharmacy education in India and due to his contribution towards pharmacy, we all get this renowned pharmacy India profession...This video is a tribute to his contribution towards pharmacy field.


THE FATHER AND PIONEER OF INDIAN PHARMACEUTICAL EDUCATION-PROF. M.L SCHROFF

1-1902-Born in Darbhanga Bihar

2-1920-Attended intermediate exam

3-1927-MS in Chemistry and Microbiology from Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT).

4-1929 - Worked in Birla Brothers Ltd.

5-1932 - Introduced Pharmaceutical Chemistry as prime subject in B.Sc course in BHU.

6-1934 - Introduced an integrated 2 years B.Sc course with the subjects - Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy and Pharmacy.

7-1937 - Modified it into a 3 years B.Pharmacy course at BHU for the 1st time. So, he was regarded as the pioneer and father of Indian Pharmaceutical Education.

8-1935 - Started United Provinces Pharma Association.

9-1939 - Modified into Indian pharmaceutical Association. In this year only, he edited a journal called Indian Journal of Pharmacy.

10-1940 -Prof. Schroff introduced M.Pharm at BHU.

11-1943 -Worked as Chief Chemist and Research Officer at Birla Brothers Ltd. and as Secretary at their laboratories till 1949.

12-1946 -President of Bengal Pharmaceutical Association.

13-1948 - Founded Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Association (IPCA) whose counterpart is IPA (Indian Pharmaceutical Association).

14-1949 -Elected as the 1st Vice-President of PCI (Pharmacy Council of India).

15-1954 -1st elected President of PCI.(pharmacy council of India)

16-Prof. Schroff was the person who introduced D.Pharmacy, B.Pharmacy, B.Pharm (Honors) and B.Sc (Pharmacology, Microbiology, Biochemistry) courses.

17-1964 -Head of Pharmacy Department at Jadhavpur and was also young Professor there.

Served as the 1st President of Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI).

18-1967-71-Started in edited Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Education.

19-And finally on Aug 25th, 1971, he left all of us giving a perfect direction to the field of pharmacy, though not a pharmacist because of his interest, dedication, sincerity, understanding nature and service to mother land.

Through his life, we can learn how to show devotion towards work, the sincerity and interest that you have to inculcate in whatever we do and excel in life.
